Counselor, speaker, and advocate whose work centers on emotional regulation, behavioral change, and mental health.
The Story
Meaningful change begins within
Devon A. Blackwood has counseled in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and served as a Public Health Advisor at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Across clinical, governmental, and community settings, he has supported both individuals and systems navigating complex challenges related to mental health and substance use.
He is the founder of Still Waters Institute and CEO of B.W. Associates, where he leads therapy, training, education, and consulting. His work extends into public policy, including his appointment by the Chairman to Governor Wes Moore’s 2023 Board of Commission to The Patuxent Institution.
His guiding belief is simple: when people learn to understand and regulate themselves, they create the possibility for healthier outcomes in every area of their lives.
