Your Turn, My Turn: Listening is a 2-Way Street

What occurs when you have an abundance of thoughts while someone is speaking to you? Does your mind whirl with various ideas to the extent that you feel compelled to interrupt? Do you often complete the sentences of those who are engaging with you? How can you refine and perfect the art of active listening? What significance do eye contact, body language, mirroring the message, and eliciting deeper emotions hold in this process?

Your mind is not a machine to be repaired. It is a garden to be tended. The manner in which we nurture and support our minds will influence our commitment to mental health and well-being. You hold the responsibility in this journey, and it is solely up to you to establish the necessary boundaries for flourishing. This platform explores five essential acts of cultivation: the soil, the seed, the fence, the weeds, and the gardeners. The speaker addresses each element individually, offering guidance and a systematic approach to develop and maintain healthy thought patterns.
What are the most effective strategies for responding to traumatic events and establishing a framework for evaluating emotional and affect dysregulation? How can victims navigate challenges, barriers, fear, and anxiety, and in what ways can providers support clients who are experiencing pain and/or emotional numbness? The speaker examines and offers practical, clinical, and theoretical approaches to analyzing SAD – shame, anger, depersonalization, empowering the client, and assisting them in constructing a trauma narrative that is tailored to their individual experiences and needs.
